About Nessie

Nessie is a voluntary sector therapy organisation that focuses on helping children and young people (0 – 25 years) thrive. Our child centered, experienced, qualified team specialise in supporting children and young people with complex needs who are struggling to access support.

Many children and young people we support are anxious about talking to a therapist, have experienced trauma; they may be fostered or adopted; they may be neurodivergent; or perhaps they prefer more flexible, creative approaches.

We support the mental health of children and young people in three ways:

We provide support through partnering with local schools, county councils and community organisations within Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and the surrounding counties. Parents can also reach out to us directly.

Nessie is funded to provide free support in many areas and we provide bursaries to reduce the cost for direct support where there is a need. Together our therapists have over 200 years of experience. We welcome diversity and have specialist Arts, trauma, SEND and LGBTQ+ therapists within our team. We have excellent feedback from organisations and parents. Our long history of working relationships with local statutory and community partners means we can effectively signpost people to the best support in their area.

We are proud to offer qualified, regulated, child centered, flexible support.  Our Mental Health Leads Training is quality assured by the Department of Education.
